Wendy’s Approach to Therapy
Starting therapy can feel nerve-racking. I believe that it is my job as a therapist to build your trust and go at your pace. As we work together we can build a partnership that helps you connect with your intuition, empowers you to care for your own needs and helps you make the changes you wish to see. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, feeling overwhelmed, feeling distant or feeling like you just need to talk, please reach out. Health and healing are possible.
About Wendy McGowan
I have worked with children, teens and adults that have experienced anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief, traumatic loss, faith transitions and religious trauma. I use an integrative approach including person-centered therapy, attachment theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, and expressive arts therapy. I have enjoyed working with clients using experiential therapies including animal-assisted and equine-assisted therapy as well as facilitating expressive arts cake decorating group therapies.
We are All Good Inside
My approach to therapy and life is that we are all good inside. We all have had difficult and even traumatic experiences that have shaped our behaviors, our thoughts, and our ability to connect to ourselves and others. As we work together we can build awareness and understanding of these injuries and the hurt they have caused. We can practice holding multiple truths at once. You can hurt, even feel heartbroken and also begin healing. You can love your family members while building healthy boundaries that respect your needs, and you can want to be better without needing to be perfect.
